the technique

The Bohemian Buho is a collection of handmade micro-macrame and brass jewellery by Katie Rose.

Each piece is made up of hundreds of tiny little knots which are then directed in different directions and forms to create unique shapes. Some of these, as basic as straight lines, and others as complex as interwoven diamond and circle shapes.

Waxed string is used to maintain the shape of the knots and the finished product.

Some of the more intricate pieces are centered around a central gemstone, and the knotting works its way out from the center. Others, such as simpler necklaces, bracelets and earrings are accented with different colours and small beads.

Taking inspiration from old macrame catalogs and beautiful people I've met along the way, I let my imagination (and hands) dance wildly with the coloured strings to bring to the world a little more beauty :)
